First-round knockout match sees USWNT bounce back from previous loss

The United States women's national team (USWNT) bounced back from a shocking loss to Mexico in its previous Concacaf W Gold match, defeating Colombia 3-0 in the quarterfinals on March 4, 2024.

The USWNT, ranked No. 1 in the world, faced off against Colombia, ranked No. 28, in the first round of the knockout stage. The USWNT controlled the match from the start, with Sophia Smith scoring in the 15th minute. Alex Morgan and Mallory Pugh added goals in the second half to seal the victory.

The win was the USWNT's first in the Concacaf W Gold since 2018. The team will now advance to the semifinals, where they will face either Canada or Costa Rica.
