Slovenia vs. Serbia: Jovic's Last-Gasp Header Earns Serbia a Draw

Slovenia and Serbia Share Points in Entertaining Group Match

Substitute Luka Jovic Heads in Equalizer in Final Minutes

In a thrilling Group C encounter at the UEFA European Championship 2024, Serbia substitute Luka Jovic headed home a dramatic last-gasp equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw with Slovenia. The match, played in Munich, Germany, saw both teams battle hard from start to finish.

Slovenia took the lead in the 32nd minute through a stunning strike from midfielder Josip Ilicic. The Fiorentina playmaker received the ball just outside the Serbian penalty area and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that flew into the top corner of the net, giving Serbia goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic no chance.

Serbia responded well to the setback and came close to equalizing on several occasions in the second half. Dusan Tadic and Aleksandar Mitrovic both had good chances, but they were unable to convert them. However, with just minutes remaining, Serbia's persistence paid off. A cross from the right found Jovic unmarked at the far post, and the Real Madrid forward made no mistake with a powerful header that leveled the score.

The draw leaves both teams with one point from their opening match in Group C. Slovenia will face Norway in their next game, while Serbia will take on Russia. The top two teams in the group will advance to the knockout stage.
