Ryan Garcia Weight 2023

Ryan Garcia Misses Weight for Devin Haney Fight

Garcia to Lose Title Shot and $15 Million Bet

Garcia Weighed 143.2 Lbs on Friday, 3.2 Lbs Above Limit

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Ryan Garcia has missed weight for his highly anticipated fight against Devin Haney, losing his title shot and a $15 million bet.

Garcia weighed 143.2 lbs on Friday, 3.2 lbs above the 140-lb limit for the lightweight bout. Haney, who weighed in at 139.4 lbs, will now be the only fighter eligible to win the WBC lightweight title.

The missed weight comes as a major blow to Garcia, who has been building up to this fight for months. He had repeatedly exchanged insults with Haney in the lead-up to the bout, and was confident that he would come out on top.

Haney, on the other hand, remains the betting favorite. The 25-year-old is undefeated in 31 fights, with 15 knockouts. He is coming off a win over Regis Prograis in December 2023.

The fight is still scheduled to take place on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. However, Garcia will not be eligible to win the WBC title, and he will forfeit his $15 million purse.

It remains to be seen how the missed weight will affect Garcia's career. He is still a young fighter with a lot of potential, but this setback could damage his reputation and make it difficult for him to get another title shot in the future.
